SAEED GHANI ASKS PM TO DRAW A LINE IN THE SAND IN USING NAB AGAINST HIS OPPONENTS, CRITICISM ON SINDH GOVERNMENT BASELESS

KARACHI (09 November ): Sindh Minister for Information, Archives and Labour Saeed Ghani has said that the Sindh government was performing far better than any of other provinces’ government or the federal government. Saeed Ghani said that the blamed levelled by Prime Minister Imran Khan on the Sindh government that it had failed was baseless. He said that if ever a thorough audit of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government was conducted the misuse of the budget would prove without any doubt. He said that whenever it came to the audit of the accounts of Sindh government the audit of more than 90 per cent accounts was conducted while on the other hand in case of KPK only 7 to 10 per cent of accounts were being audited. The Minister said this while addressing a press conference on Saturday. On the issue of the opening of Kartarpur corridor the Saeed Ghani said that the federal government should had held concrete and result oriented negotiations on the issue of Kashmir with Indian government before the opening of Kartarpur corridor. Saeed Ghani said that the same facilitations should had been extended to our Kashmiri brethren what had been provided to the members of Sikh community. The government should keep in mind the sentiments of Kashimir people in dealing with India on whatever level. He said that on one had the Kashmiris were constantly living in curfew with no basic facility available to them on the other hand were celebrating the opening of Kartarpur corridor. Saeed Ghani said that although it was a good gesture for the Sikh community from the Pakistan but the feelings of the Kashmiri people must be taken care of before dealing with the India at any level. Saeed Ghani said that I took into confidence the provincial legislature about the misconduct of the Director of National Accountability Bureau Sukkur that how he forced the officers of Workers Welfare Board including the Secretary and the Deputy Director to handover them the allotment letters of the flats built by WWB in Sukkur as well as the cheques meant to be distributed as marriage grant to the deserving workers. The provincial minister said that contrary to their mandate the officers of NAB Sukkur wanted these allotment letters as well as marriage grant cheques to be distributed by Chairman NAB who had to attend a reception on Oct 31 in Sukkur. He said that when the Deputy Director refused to comply with the orders of Director NAB Sukkur on my instructions, he warned him that if he didn’t obey his orders, he as well as the Secretary Workers Welfare Board would be sent to prison and criminal cases would be registered against them. Later on at about midnight the Minister for Information told that he received a call from Director NAB Sukkur who asked me whether I had forbade the officers of Workers Welfare Board to not to handover the allotment letters and marriage grant cheques to the NAB Sukkur bureau. Saeed Ghani said that when I told Director NAB that the officers of Workers Welfare Board were following my orders in this regard then he told me that the officer of NAB Sukkur had received many complaints about the misappropriation in the flats built by Workers Welfare Board and furthermore he said that he had two options either to conduct a thorough inquiry into the misappropriation reported or resolved the issue amicably and that could be done if I agree to his demand of let the Chairman NAB distribute the allotment letters as well as the marriage grant cheques. Saeed Ghani said that I straightway told him that it would be better if he conducted a thorough inquiry into any alleged misappropriation conducted by the officers of Workers Welfare Board but it was against the mandate of NAB to distribute these allotment letters and the marriage grant cheques. The provincial minister for Information said that I told Director NAB Sukkur that even if he found any clue of corruption against me he could arrest me but I told him that he could no allow the distribution of allotment letters and the marriage grant cheques by Chairman NAB. Saeed Ghani said that on my this clear stance the Director NAB Sukkur quoted section 33-c of NAB ordinance and said that this section allowed him to do whatever he was planning to do. But, the Minister said that I told him that I had complete knowledge of section 33-C and by no mean this section of the NAB ordinance allowed them for the distribution of cheques and allotment letters. Saeed Ghani mentioned that the policy of allotment of flats had been changed recently. The provincial minister said that even so far it had not been decided that to whom these flats would be allotted. Still the NAD Sukkur officers were forcing my officers to handover to them the allotment letters. Saeed Ghani said that the National Accountability Bureau was completely being misused by the Prime Minister Imran Khan. He said that the powers of National Accountability Bureau had been confined to be used against Pakistan Muslim League (N) and Pakistan People’s Party only. It never took action against the members of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaaf. Saeed Ghani told journalists that since National Accountability Bureau of Sukkur had nothing productive to show to its Chairman only that’s why they wanted this distribution of allotment letters and marriage grant cheques by the hand of Chairman NAB. The provincial minister for information said that the NAB officials of Sukkur misinformed Chairman NAB about the performance of Workers Welfare Board about the distribution of marriage grant cheques amongst the deserving people. Similarly they lied about the allotment letters, the minister added. Responding to a question the minister said that the private doctors of former President Asif Ali Zardari should be included in the medical board so that the family members could be aware of his exact health condition. Saeed Ghani also said that if doctors were stressing then former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif should be allowed to travel abroad for his treatment.
