SINDH CM ALLOCATES Rs. 10m TO CONTROL LOCUST ATTACK, ASKS FEDERAL GOVT FOR THE PROVISION OF AIRCRAFTS TO SPRAY PESTICIDES IN AFFECTED AREAS  
KARACHi: Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah on Monday telephoned the Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Khusro Bakhtiar and asked him to provide aircrafts of Department of Plant Protection to spray pesticides in the areas affected by the Locust's attack in Sindh province. Chief Minister Sindh said that to meet the shortage of medicines and pilots due to lack of funds in the concerned department, the government was also issuing an immediate fund of Rs.10 million, so as to, ensure complete elimination of locusts from the affected areas of the province. Syed Murad Ali Shah while presiding over a meeting of the Agriculture Department had also directed to conduct a comprehensive survey of the areas which had been been affected by the attack of locusts. Chief Minister Sindh apprised Federal Minister for Food and Security regarding the destruction of crops in the province of Sindh after the swarms of locusts descended upon in various districts. He said that after the attack of Locusts, the standing crops in various districts of the province had been severely damaged, and it was expected that their further attacks could damage more crops. The Chief Minister asked the Federal Minister to immediately make available the planes of the Plants Protection Department to spray the pestides. "We want immediate elimanation of the locusts by spraying pesticides through planes in the affected areas," he said. Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah also directed the officers of the Agriculture Department to conduct a thorough survey of the areas affected by the locusts and assess the damage without further ado.
