Steps should be taken to boost-up recovery of Professional Tax. Mukesh Kumar Chawla. Karachi 17 December. Sindh minister for Excise and Taxation & Narcotics Control and Parliamentary Affairs Mukesh Kumar Chawla has asked the concerned officers to chalk out strategies to boost-up the recovery of Professional Tax in achieving the desired assigned targets for financial year 2019-20, adding that to take personal efforts, mobilize themselves for the purpose and those who are unable to get the assigned targets, will be taken to the task. This he said while presiding over a meeting here in his office today. Secretary Excise and Taxation & Narcotics Control Abdul Haleem Shaikh,  Director General Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui and other officers also attended the meeting. While briefing the meeting DG Excise and Taxation &  Narcotics Control Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui told that for bringing new units into Professional Tax net,  letters had been sent to Security Exchange Companies of Pakistan as well as the Government, Semi-Government, Autonomous Bodies and Semi Autonomous Bodies having the registration of contractors of various categories and number of employees enrolled with them, but no response had been received yet. Addressing the meeting Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation & Narcotics Control and Parliamentary Affairs Mukesh Kumar Chawla advised to write them again on the issue and hold meetings with small traders/electronic market associations to bring them into tax net. He also directed to report the names of non-cooperative officers/staff who had failed to achieve the monthly tax collection targets, asking the competent authority to recommend specific action against them. Mukesh Kumar Chawla said that all paid challans must be updated and authenticated immediately in computer system as per Standard Operating Procedure( SOP). He said that it was our prime duty to achieve our tax collection targets timely and positively..
