SINDH LG DEPT. ESTABLISHES 1093 HELPLINE FOR RECEIVING PUBLIC COMPLAINTS

CITIZENS CAN NOW LODGE COMPLAINTS THROUGH HELPLINE REGARDING STRAY DOGS, WATER SUPPLY, SEWERAGE AND DELAY IN ISSUANCE OF BIRTH AND DEATH CERTIFICATES ETC.

COMPLAINTS WOULD BE FORWARDED TO CONCERNED DMCS AND TOWNS; CHIEF SECRETARY ORDERS SUBMISSION OF FORTNIGHTLY REPORTS; REVIEWS CRACKDOWN ON HOARDERS

KARACHI February 10: The provincial Local Government Department has setup 1093 Helpline for receiving public complaints regarding stray dogs, water supply, sewerage and delay in issuance of birth and death certificates etc. in the province.

“Complaints received on Helpline would be forwarded to concerned DMCs and Towns for taking immediate action and redressing the complaints,” Secretary LG Roshan Ali Shaikh informed in a meeting held here Monday with Chief Secretary Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah in the chair.

Chief Secretary was told that the Helpline would soon be advertised through the newspapers the citizens could be aware of new facility of getting their problems resolved. Chief Secretary directed the Secretary LG to ensure that the report on receiving complaints and resolving the same is submitted every 15 days.

The meeting, attended by Secretaries of Food, Forest and LG departments and joined by all the divisional commissioners and deputy commissioners of the province through video link, reviewed the anti-polio drive, anti-encroachment drive, dog-bite cases, price situation of essential commodities and crackdown on hoarders.

Deputy Commissioner of Ghotki told that fine of Rs.1.580 million was imposed on hoarders in his district. In Naushehro Feroze district fine of Rs.438000 was imposed on hoarders while Rs.272000 fine was imposed in Mirpur Khas.

It was further informed that the wheat flour was being sold at the rate of Rs.40/- to Rs.43/- per kilogram at government stalls while its retail price is Rs.45/- to Rs.47/- per kilogram.

Secretary Food Laiq Ahmed told that the there was no shortage of wheat in the province and the flour mills are being supplied the wheat as per quota fixed by the department and they are bound to supply the flour to the market.

In view of the reports of dog-bite and such other cases, Chief Secretary directed to ensure availability of anti-snake venom and anti-rabies vaccine at the hospitals. He also directed to setup isolation wards at hospitals in view of coronavirus outbreak in China.

Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah directed the Deputy Commissioners to conduct visits to the hospitals, educational institutions and the markets. He also directed for taking strict action against the hoarders.

Chief Secretary also directed for resolving the issues related to District Recruitment Committee. HANDOUT NO.124()
